Mayor Christensen's Message
As we approach the Fall and Winter Seasons, it is always important to reflect where we have been and what the future holds. If you drive down Main Street, you wil observe the lighting project underway. We are all excited about it and anticipate how it will look when it is complete. I would be amiss if I didn't thank those who made it possible including: The great citizens of Fillmore City, Main Street Beautification Committee, Economic Development Committee, Public Works Personnel, City Office employees, City Council, Flowell Electric, Questar Gas, Frontier, and UDOT. Our thanks go to UDOT for their generous financial support for the project. At the completion of the project we will have four blocks with the new lights. As time and finances permit, other phases of the project will be considered such as: trees, benches, flowers, and or other plants.
We wish to thank the businesses on Main Street for their patience and thoughtfulness during the construction process.
The conversion of the electrical system to 7200 volts will be a huge and long range benefit for the City. There will be less maintenance, more reliability and less costly to operate. We thank all of the citizens and residences for their patience during the process.
Fire Prevention Week was a huge success again this year. The fire department went to the schools and worked with the school children and had a great and meaningful experience. Late Monday afternoon found the parents and children enjoying a ride in the fire trucks, eating hotdogs, chips, and enjoying a drink. Many thanks go to Fire Chief Imlay and all of the other volunteers and spouses for their continual efforts to help protect the citizens of our community.
We were saddened by the announcement by City Councilman Bevan Johnson that he and his family will be leaving the area to follow his employment. This will be a great loss to all of us. We wish them the very best.
I wish to thank everyone who has made an effort to tidy and clean up their property. Fillmore is blessed with a lot of visitors to our City and for the most part they are impressed with what they see. We want to continue to clean up, paint up, and dress up our surroundings.
We hope that you and your families have a great and enjoyable Fall Season this year.
